Services for Delores Goforth Moore Savell were held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Milling Funeral Home Chapel of Union with burial at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Lin Chesney and Bro. Rusty Walton officiated.
Visitation was held one hour prior to service at Milling Funeral Home of Union.
Mrs. Savell, age 94, died on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
Delores was born on April 6, 1930 to Gus Goforth and Rennie Keen Goforth in Little Rock, MS. She was the third of seven children.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Johnny Moore and her second husband, Benarr Savell; her siblings, Wilfred Goforth, Wilmer Goforth, Marjorie Goforth Russell, Willis Goforth and Jerry Goforth.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Moore, wife Sheila and David Moore, wife Teresa; four grandchildren, Tara Moore Graham, husband Mark, Tessa Moore Wilhite, husband Cory, Betty Moore and Ben Moore; two great grandsons, Bryton Wilhite and Hawk Wilhite; brother, Gus Goforth, Jr, wife Jerry Gail; sister-in-law, Joanne Goforth and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Delores’ father was a sharecropper and she spent most of her life living in Newton County, Mississippi where she worked the field with her family growing up. She worked at Midland Shirt Factory in Union, Mississippi until she retired in 2000. She was always a hard working person who never had idle hands. Work was her passion. She loved to sew for herself and others. In the summer, she worked her garden and put up vegetables from the harvest God had given her. In the winter, she hand quilted many a beautiful quilt (treasures) for her loved ones and friends.
Delores was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her church and her church family.
Pallbearers were Ben Moore, Cory Wilhite, Mark Graham, Phillip Goforth, Burlon Russell, and Herman Russell.
Milling Funeral Home of Union was in charge of the arrangements.
