Members of the Newton County Talented and Gifted (TAG) Affiliate Group and current Newton County Elementary TAG students met with Newton County Representative Randy Rushing and Senator Tyler McCaughn to show support for Mississippi Gifted Education and the MAGC Day at the Capitol. What Greek Mythological Character Are You Most Like? These fourth graders were in character at the Newton County Elementary School Book Parade as part of the kick-off to Read Across America. All grades selected a book and dressed the part to introduce the parade goers to a variety of book titles. The campus was bustling as guest readers came to the classroom to share their favorite books and do their part to help meet the campus goal of 15,000 books by May 2nd.
NC Superintendent Brooke Sibley reads the book, Otis and the Puppy, by Loren Long to Mrs. Jennifer and Mrs. Whitney’s kindergarteners on Read Across America Day at Newton County Elementary School. The campus goal is set at 15,000 books by May 2nd.
Newton County High School Senior T.J. Geter participated in the NCHS Student Council’s “NC’s Got Talent” Show and won first place with his classical piano medley.

The Newton County High School Student Council hosted the “NC’s Got Talent” Show under the advisement of Melanie Thomas and Ben Wall. The show included a variety of top talent including "Voices of Praise!" Their performance of "Trust in God" by Elevation Worship secured third place honors from left: Chas Michael Evans, Mychael Henson, T.J. Geter, Hylan Murrell, Nakiah Roberts, Cheyenne Vrbicky, Ashtyn Henry, Kayla Garrison, and J'Navia Hawkins. Also participating: JaNoah Skinner, who had to leave for a Track Meet.
Each year top performing kindergarten students in iReady are honored as Kings and Queens at the iReady Kindergarten Mardi Gras Celebration from left: James Cook, Matison Smith, Madison Caraway, Archer Way, Jessep Pearson, Kyra Bradley, Jack Ezell, Haven Howell, Tyce Lewis, Sophie Miller, William Wilkinson, and Anali Aguilar-Perez.
