In the early hours of April 4, 2023, Officers T. Stevens and D. Gilmore of the Union Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a White Toyota Camry at the intersection of North St. and Jackson Rd in the City of Union. The vehicle came to a stop in the parking lot of Piggly Wiggly.
K9 Officer S. Robinson was called to the scene and deployed Union PD K9 Teo, who conducted a search of the vehicle. K9 Teo successfully alerted to the presence of a controlled substance in the vehicle, resulting in the arrest of Heather Marie Foster of Union. Foster was charged with Careless Driving, Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Motor Vehicle, and Driving Under the Influence of an Illicit Substance.
Foster was transported to the Newton County Detention Facility in Decatur, MS and has since been released on bond pending trial. It is important to note that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
