Charles M. “Curly” Burks, 81, of Hickory, Miss., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family and friends. He was born Saturday, Nov. 11, 1939 in Hickory.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020 from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Newton County Funeral Home- North in Newton, Miss. Graveside services will be held Friday, Dec. 4, 2020 at 11:15 a.m. at Hickory City Cemetery with Rev. Gerald Chaney and Rev. Gary Howse officiating. Curly served in the United States Army stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was a retired truck driver. He enjoyed being in the outdoors and working in his shop.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marlon and Doris Pugh Burks; daughter, Sherry Burks Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Burks; son-in-law, Eric Johnson; grandsons, Joshua Boyette (Lashaye) and Brody Johnson; brother, Johnny Burks (Minnie); and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Boyette, Dusty Jones, Sam Burks, Lee Marlon Burks, Chris Ferguson and Jake Veenstra.
