The Hwy. 15 yard sale is now back to its normal weekend.
The semiannual event continues through Sunday, June 3-6m from Newton to Ackerman.
Larry Blackburn, one of the local organizers of the event, said the event usually brings an increase in traffic.
“This event will have approximately 150 vendors,” Blackburn said. “Its Facebook page, Hwy 15 Yard Sale, will have a map of vendor locations. It will be posted Thursday, 5-27. The page has over 8,000 members. You’re going find a great variety of items from antiques to vintage to new items.
Blackburn said this will be the ninth semiannual yard sale. Timothy Bozeman, one of the event’s founders, said previously that they always enjoyed the regional U.S. Hwy. 11 Yard Sale, that goes from Meridian to Bristol, Va.
So a group of people got together to plan a yard sale from Newton to Louisville that could attract shoppers from surrounding areas. Five years later, they are seeing the fruits of their labor, as it heavy traffic during the twice annual sale.
Blackburn said there will be hubs of vendors around the Hwy. 15 Flea Market, the American Legion Hut in Decatur, downtown Decatur and other places along the route. But he said anyone who wants to have a yard sale that weekend can do it.
“All you have to do is just put up a sign and have your own yard sale,” Blackburn said. “However, if you want to get your yard sale on the map, you will need to contact the administrators of the Facebook group.”
