Jimmie Carol Pete, aged 80, of Newton, MS, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, March 28, 2025. Born on October 6, 1944, in Jones County, Mississippi, Jimmie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.
Jimmie Carol was a proud graduate of Newton High School and pursued higher education at East Central Junior College before earning her Bachelor's Degree in Business from Mississippi State University. She dedicated twenty years of her career as a Financial Aid Director at Final Touch Beauty School in Meridian, MS, working alongside her sister, Sue Mitchell.
Jimmie Carol had a passion for quilting, baking cookies, exploring various cuisines, and playing games, especially bridge. She cherished her time working in her yard and, above all, spending time with her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy A. Pete; daughter, Leslie Carol Deal and two unnamed children; her parents, James M. Mayfield and Verna Carolyn Craft Mayfield; her brother, Don Keith Mayfield; and her sister, Mary Mayfield Lahman.
Jimmie Carol is survived by her son, Jon Deal of Newton, MS; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her brothers, John Mayfield (Robyn) and Joel Mayfield; her sister, Sue Mayfield Mitchell; a cousin, and a host of other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
A Graveside Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, MS, officiated by Bishop Blalock. Arrangements were under the care of Newton County Funeral Home - South.
Pallbearers were Bart Cross, Paul Mayfield, and Monroe Mayfield.
