Lea Anne Valentine, 51, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Rush Hospital in Meridian. She was the daughter of Clyde and Becky Valentine of Hickory.
Visitation was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at Newton County Funeral Home North with a celebration of her life following at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment was at Newton County Memorial Gardens.
From the early stages of childhood, Lea Anne had an endearing smile and a sparkle in her eye. That sparkle was always reflected in the jewelry she loved to wear on her fingers, wrists, and around her neck. She looked forward to family functions and fun gatherings so she could dress up and feel fancy. At these events Lea Anne was happiest seated at the table in the center of the conversation. If a hamburger, French fries, and ice cream were served to her, she would smile knowing it had been her perfect day.
While a school-aged young adult, Lea Anne attended Armstrong School in Greenville, Mississippi, where she developed lifelong friendships. She was a member of Unique Friends Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church in Greenville. It was with these special friends that Lea Anne began attending Camp Bratten-Green during the summertime. Her love for music blossomed as they looked forward to the dance at the end of camp each year. These weeks of camp were a highlight for Lea Anne and her friends year after year. They treasured the memories they made during their time spent together. She also enjoyed weekend retreats at Camp Garawya in Clinton with her sweet Sunday School friends.
In recent months, Lea Anne enjoyed the quiet time she spent at home. She spent afternoons being chauffeured around the vast yard in a golf cart, fishing from the bank at the edge of the pond, and watching wildlife from the comfort of the sun porch.
Lea Anne is survived by her loving parents, Clyde and Becky Valentine of Hickory; her brother, John David Valentine, MD, and his wife, Janet, of Hendersonville, Tenn.; and nephew, Jack Valentine, and niece, Kate Valentine, both of Hendersonville, Tenn.
