Newton County managed to pull out a win this past week, winning one of three games.
The Cougars were swept in Division 5-4A play, dropping a pair of tight games to Northeast Jones, 3-1 on Tuesday and 1-0 on Thursday. County then bounced back on Friday to beat Enterprise 9-0.
Newton County, now 8-19 on the season, is scheduled to play host Morton on Monday in the regular-season finale.

The Cougars were on the short end of a pitcher’s dual as they dropped a two-run decision to the Tigers on Tuesday.
After four scoreless innings, Northeast scored two in the fifth and one in the sixth while County scored its lone run in the bottom of the sixth.
Northeast outhit County 6-5 in the contest. Gage Hollingsworth was 2-for-3 while Griffin Bailey doubled and drove in a run. Griffin Bailey doubled and drove in a run while Cooper Lewis also doubled. Estaban Fernandez had County’s other hit.
Tyson Wood started on the mound and pitched 4 1/3 innings and gave up two runs on three hits and four walks while striking out five. Cooper Lewis pitched 2/3 of an inning while Dalton Graham pithed the last two innings and gave up one run on two hits and two walks while striking out three.
Northeast Jones 1, Newton County 0
The Cougars were unable to take advantage of four errors by the Tigers as they fell short on Thursday.
Northeast scored its lone run in the second inning.
Northeast had four hits while County had three hits. Hayden Amis doubled while Griffin Bailey and Tyson Wood each singled for County.
Gatlin Huber started on the mound and pitched five innings, giving up one unearned run on three hits and four walks while striking out four. Brent Heidelberg pitched the last inning and gave up one hit and one walk while striking out one.
Newton County 9, Enterprise 0
The Cougars grabbed a much-needed win over the Bulldogs on Friday.
After a scoreless first inning, County scored four in second, two in the third and three in the fifth.
County had 12 hits in the contest. Gage Hollingsworth was 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs. Hayden Amis was 2-for-4 with two doubles while Vance Richardson was 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Braxton May was 2-for-3 with a double while Tyson Wood also had a double. Cooper Lewis also singled and drove in two runs while Esteban Fernandez singled and scored three runs.
Amis started and pitched four innings and gave up three hits while striking out seven. Lewis, Dalton Graham and Dominic Bell each pitched one inning apiece to finish out the game.
