Softball: Lady Generals Fall to Benton Academy

It was a rough week for the Newton County Academy softball team as they dropped a pair of run-rule games last week.

NCA lost a pair of games to Benton Academy, falling 10-0 on Monday and 16-4 on Tuesday.

NCA falls to 10-13 on the season and will now host Canton on Monday and make the return trip on Tuesday.

High School Football: Dragons overcome Sebastopol 27-6

The Sebastopol Bobcats opened the game by driving the length of the field and taking an early lead.

But the Bobcats couldn’t hold off the Pisgah offense.

The Dragons overcame the early deficit and shut out the Bobcats for the last three quarters to take a 27-6 win on Friday night.

High School Football: Tigers fall to Quitman 44-0

Newton coach Jeffrey Crosby was curious to see how his Tigers would respond after breaking a 24-game losing streak.

It wasn’t a good response as Quitman ran away with a 44-0 win over the Tigers on Friday.

Newton falls to 1-2 on the season and will host Southeast Lauderdale for homecoming on Friday.
