Decatur M.B. Church in Decatur recently issued two Eleanor Russell/Mattie Pearl Williams scholarships to their member graduates, J’Navia Hawkins and Ja’Nasha Sharkey.

Both girls were honor students at Newton County High School and will be attending Jones County Community College in the fall of 2025.

Newton County Academy Softball: Lady General Fall Short Against Hartfield, Laurel Christian

The Newton County Academy softball team lost a pair of games last week.

The Lady Generals lost 4-3 to Hartfield on Monday and then 8-3 to Laurel Christian on Thursday.

NCA was scheduled to host Heritage on Monday and then host Laurel Christian on Thursday.
