The Decatur Police Department have arrested a man who stole $1,089 from the Baptist Student Union at East Central Community College recently.
Isaac “Big Ike” McKay was arrested on Nov. 30 and charged with burglary of a commercial building. He was still being held in the Newton County Jail as of last week on $5,000 bond.
Decatur Police Chief Joedy Pennington said the building was not properly secured one night when the suspect broke into the building and stole $1,089 along with a pool stick and other items. The next day, the BSU director reported the incident, and the police department obtained surveillance images during the investigation.
Pennington said there was no forced entry into the building.
“We encourage everyone to make sure that you keep your buildings are properly secured when you leave,” Pennington said. “Don’t make it easy for someone to break in.”
