The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 7 p.m. today.
Isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible over the area tonight. Damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail to the size of quarters will be the primary severe weather threats.
Nearly continuous lightning strikes and torrential downpours can be expected with thunderstorms as well.
The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., has placed the area under a slight risk of severe weather for today.
The heat ramps up tomorrow as temperatures are expected to be in the upper 90s with heat indices above 105, resulting in a heat advisory.
