Newton County Academy welcomed back Kemp Alderman to the lineup as the sophomore Ole Miss commit hammered three home runs to lead the Generals to three wins this past week.
NCA started off the week by beating Kemper Academy 11-0 on Monday and then took two games from the Meridian Home School Association, winning 12-0 and 18-3.
The Generals are now 8-13 on the season and have won six out of seven contests. NCA will host Clinton Christian on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and travel to Clinton on Thursday for a 3 p.m. contest with a playoff spot on the line this week. NCA is scheduled to travel to Lamar School on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest.
NCA 11, Kemper Academy 1
The Generals had little trouble as they took a six-inning, run-rule win over Kemper Academy on Monday.
After Kemper scored one in the first inning, NCA scored two in the second, one in the third, three in the fifth and finished off the Rams with five in the sixth.
The Generals had nine hits and took advantage of seven walks. Logan Little was 2-for-3 and scored three runs while Alec Thompson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Hayden Wall had a single and drove in two runs while Austin Upton was credited with two RBIs. Lee Hollingsworth had three walks while Kemp Alderman had two walks as he returned to the lineup. Zander Meeks also scored twice.
Lincoln Jordan and Little each had two stolen bases.
Braxton Rose got the start and pitched three innings, giving up one earned run on two hits and a walk while striking out five. Alec Thompson pitched the next three shutout innings and gave up two hits while striking out four.
NCA 12, Meridian Home School 0
The Generals gave up just one hit as they took a four-inning, run-rule win over Meridian Home School on Tuesday.
NCA scored eight runs in the first inning, followed by one in the second and fourth and two in the third.
NCA had nine hits in the contest as Zach Joyner was 2-for-2 with a double, triple, two runs scored and two walks. Braxton Rose was 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Kemp Alderman had a three-run home run. Hayden Wall walked three times and scored two runs while Lee Hollingsworth had a double and drove in two runs. Logan Little also scored twice.
Joyner pitched three innings and gave up just one hit and struck out seven while Little pitched the last inning, getting three outs on nine pitches.
NCA 18, Meridian Home School 3
The Generals used a pair of big innings to take a five-inning, run-rule win over Meridian Home School on Thursday.
NCA scored five in the first, two in the second, three in the third and eight in the fifth. Meridian scored two in the bottom of the first.
NCA had 11 hits, led by Kemp Alderman who was 2-for-3 with two home runs, three runs scored and two RBIs. Lincoln Jordan was 2-for-4 while Austin Upton had three RBIs. Alec Thompson scored four times while Zach Joyner had a double, scored twice and drove in three runs. Braxton Rose also scored three times and had three stolen bases. Seth Magee also had a double.
Austin Upton got the start and pitched three innings, giving up three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out five. Little pitched the final two innings and struck out four.
