Adults and children of all ages were thrilled by the sight of more than a dozen classic cars Saturday at T-Bones Steakhouse in Union. The second annual Car Show featured live music, a bounce house multiple raffles and flawless classic cars, bringing the community together for a day of fun and entertainment.
Clint Hunt, owner of T-Bones Steakhouse, said that is exactly what he wanted his Car Show to do.
“Basically, we’re just putting it on to give somebody a fun thing to do,” he said.
Hunt said he wants to give back to the community through his restaurant. Since opening T-Bones, he said the community has shown a lot of support by coming to eat at their lunch buffet or attending one of their occasional live music nights.
“We’ve made a lot of good friends and loyal customers,” he said. “As our motto is, ‘Come as strangers, leave as friends.”
The first Car Show was held last fall and was a big hit with the community, Hunt said. Saturday’s even was a continuation of that. Even though there were multiple cars shows, some bigger than T-Bones’, he said the community still came out to show their support for local business.
Visitors to Saturday’s car show could enjoy fresh fried pork skins from Little Piggy Pork Skins, enter a raffle to win a brand new 4x4, jump on the bounce house or examine the classic vehicles brought by Meridian Corvette Association. Additionally, HR Block was on hand to help residents who may have missed the tax deadline, and several clothing and jewelry vendors offered an opportunity to expand summer wardrobes.
In the future, Hunt said he plans to expand on the car show, using it as a launch pad for other events and projects that would benefit the City of Union.
“We’re very family oriented,” he said. “We love helping people, and that’s what we’re here for.”
Hunt encouraged residents interested in upcoming events to follow the steakhouse on Facebook, where updates are posted daily. Most recently, he said, they’ve launched a new line of burgers, which are garnering a lot of praise.
