Newton County residents are invited to help keep their local waterways clean through the Chunky River Clean-Up event Friday, June 21, at Chunky Shoals Fish Camp.
The event, which is sponsored by East Mississippi Foothills Land Trust, offers the opportunity to help preserve one of Mississippi’s most scenic rivers while enjoying a fun day on the water free of charge.
EMFLT will provide a limited number of kayaks for volunteers but ask anyone with a personal kayak to bring it if possible.
After the clean-up, volunteers will be treated to a meal courtesy of Chunky Shoals Fish Camp, and door prizes will be awarded.
The Chunky River Clean-Up has been rescheduled for 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday, June 21, if weather permits.
