After an embarrassing 18-0 game 1 loss on Thursday, the Sebastopol Bobcats made game 2 against Ethel far more interesting.
But it still wasn’t enough to force a game 3 as the Tigers held on to take a 7-6 win on Friday and sweep the series.
Sebastopol ends the season with an 18-8 record.
Ethel 18, Sebastopol 0
The Tigers scored 13 runs in the first inning and ran away with a run-rule victory on Thursday to open the series.
After the 13-run first inning, Ethel scored three in the second and two in the fourth for the final margin.
Ethel outhit Sebastopol 11-2 in the contest and drew nine walks and had five hit batters. Ethan Boleware and Ian Strickland had Sebastopol’s only hits.
Boleware started the contest and only got one out but gave up eight runs on four hits and three walks. From there Cy Mooney gave up five runs on two hits and two walks but didn’t record an out. Jacob Williams pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up three runs on four hits while striking out three. Tyler Perkins pitched the last two innings and gave up two runs on one hit and four walks.
Ethel 7, Sebastopol 6
The Tigers completed the sweep of the Bobcats as they took a one-run win on Friday.
Ethel struck first with one run in the second and each team scored two in the fourth to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead. But Sebastopol scored four runs in the fifth inning to give the Bobcats a 6-3 lead. But the Tigers answered right back with four runs in sixth inning and held on to take the win.
Each team had seven hits in the contest. Cy Mooney was 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs while Ben Myers was 2-for-3 while Ethan Boleware homered, scored twice and had two RBIs. Jacob Williams also doubled and drove in two runs.
Ben Myers started on the mound and pitched five innings, giving up five runs, only two earned, on five hits and two walks while striking out eight. Bishop Hardin pitched the last two innings and gave up two runs on two hits and five walks while striking out four.
