The Lake Lady Hornets kicked off the slow-pitch softball season with a pair of games on Saturday but couldn’t come away with a win.
Lake lost the opener 5-4 to Leake Central and tied Philadelphia 3-3 in an eight-inning, time-limit contest.
Lake will play at Union on Monday in their only scheduled action of the week.
Leake Central 5, Lake 4
The Lady Hornets opened the season with a 5-4 loss to Leake Central on Saturday.
Lake scored one in the first but trailed 2-1 after two innings. Lake scored three runs in the third to go up 4-2 but Leake tied the game up with two runs in the fifth. Leake scored one in the seventh to take the win.
Lake outhit Leake Central 10-6 in the contest. Kaytie Hillman was 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Taylor Duncan was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Kate Gladney was 2-for-3 while Laurel Breland was 2-for-4 and scored a run. Duncan, Hillman and Landry LeBlanc each had doubles while Duncan added a triple.
Josie Gibbs got the start and gave four runs on three hits but walked seven batters. Reagan Clark pitched the final three innings and gave up one run on three hits.
Lake 3, Philadelphia 3
Lake left eight runners on base in game that ended in a tie at the time limit on Saturday after eight innings.
Philly scored two runs in the first inning and one in the fourth while Lake had single runs in the second, third and fifth innings.
Lake outhit Philly 13-12 in the contest. Landry LeBlanc was 3-for-4 while Laurel Breland and Reagan Clark were each 2-for-4. Taylor Duncan and Josie Gibbs each had one hit and had one RBI each.
Reagan Clark pitched all eight innings, giving up three runs on 12 hits and just one hit.
