Decatur’s Hannah Smith recently won three world foosball title at the World Championship of Professional Foosball held in Lexington, Ky.
The event was held over Labor Day weekend, and she accomplished a life-long dream to win a world Foosball event and get a world Foosball title.
Hannah came in first in Women’s Expert Singles, first in Women’s Expert Doubles with Jamie To, and first in Amateur Doubles with Tom Miles, a Mississippi Representative, defeating 128 other teams.
She also came in third in Expert Doubles against 138 teams and fourth in Amateur Singles against 192 players.
She is currently working on acquiring enough points to qualify to play in Germany at the International Competition in 2018.
Hannah’s Dad, Michael Ray Smith, got her playing foosball at the age of 10 years old. She caught on very fast and was playing competitive Foosball quickly. Her family travelled to different states tournaments to see how many states Hannah could hold a state title.
In competitive foosball, you play junior teams until you are 16 years old. Then, you play with the adults.
At age 14, Hannah was ranked first in the world in her division.
She holds state titles in Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, Kentucky and Tennessee.
