The Lake baseball team only got one game in last week but made it count.
The Hornets use a big seventh inning to run away with a 20-4 win over Choctaw Central on Monday.
Lake will play in the Sebastopol Spring Break Tournament this week as they are scheduled to play Noxapater on Monday at 3 p.m. and Puckett on Tuesday at 3 p.m. They will finish the week on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. as they play Choctaw Central.
Lake 20, Choctaw Central 4
The Hornets exploded late and took a 16-run win over the Warriors on Monday.
Lake opened with five runs in the top of the fist and led 6-1 after two innings. Choctaw scored one in the third while Lake added one in the fourth and fifth. Choctaw scored two in the sixth to cut the lead to 8-4 going to the seventh. Lake then scored 12 runs in the seventh for the final margin.
Lake outhit Choctaw 9-5 in the contest. Jacob Lanier was 3-for-4 with four runs scored, two RBIs, two walks and two stolen bases. Riley Bell was 2-for-6 while Aiden Alford was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Aidan Dilley had two RBIs while Jalen Gray singled, walked three times and scored three runs. Kenny Ray Hanna walked twice, was hit twice and scored three runs. Ryan Moore was hit three times and scored two runs while Trey Gray singled and scored two runs.
Bell started on the mound and pitched six innings and gave up four unearned runs on five hits while striking out 10. Alford pitched the last inning and struck out one, getting three outs on seventh pitches.
