It’s a wrap! After a busy week of shows at The Roxy, Newton Theatre Company’s kids musical Aladdin came to an end of Sunday. The cast and crew deserve multiple rounds of applause because they absolutely knocked it out of the park! The show was a fun, the cast was highly entertaining, and there were plenty of laughs. With a large part of the cast being newcomers to the theatre, it’s safe to say some little stars were born last week.
As announced prior to each show last week, coming next from the Newton Theatre Company will be the Youth Production, with auditions coming up in December.
And I have no doubt that it, too, will be an excellent show because this area has some great talent, and that is a fact that Newton County should hang their hat on. Speaking of hats, a tip of the hat to the Newton Theatre Company and the people that give their time, expertise, and patience to produce these shows and introduce the art of theater to newcomers small and tall.
Tyson-Paul Brawl
Everybody that got suckered into watching (or attempting) to watch Netflix Friday night two watch Mike Tyson and Jake Paul box raise your hand.
I have never been a big fan of boxing. I’m more of a pro wrestling guy, where things are a little more realistic. No really, I can appreciate boxing. But it just wasn’t’ something I was into.
But then in the 80’s, Mike Tyson came on the scene and was handing out whoopin’ after whoopin’ in matches, with most ending in the first round with his opponents facing the heavens.
Mike Tyson, in time, became the epitome of sports enigma in boxing to most of Generation X, similar to Michael Jordan in basketball. They were IT. They were the GOAT. They were the best and they made everyone else look silly.
Until they grew up and became old like the rest of us.
So, when this match between Jake Paul, an interesting boxing character that started off as an online influencer, and Tyson was announced, it’s safe to say a large percentage of people wanted to see the Tyson of old show up and knock Paul’s jock off.
But then reality hit the majority of us during round 3, and the very same thought crept into our collective heads: “Well, he is 58 years old.”
But I’ll tell you this, if this was pro wrestling and Ric Flair came strutting down the aisle in his trademark sequined robe, along with Stone Cold Steve Austin, to triple team Jake Paul into submission, it would have been worth the price of Netflix.
