The Newton County Lady Cougars saw their basketball season come to an end last week.
The Lady Cougars fell behind in the first half as Louisville took a 52-35 win in the semifinals of the Class 4A state tournament.
Newton County finished the season with a 17-9 record.
Louisville dominated the first half as they outscored Newton County 16-9 in the first period and 16-8 in the second period to lead 32-17 at the half.
The Lady Cougars outscored the Lady Wildcats 13-11 in the third period while Louisville took the fourth period 10-5 for the final margin.
Felicia King led Newton County with 14 points and six rebounds. Nalayah Phillips had 10 points and six rebounds for Newton County while Dazlie Tubby had eight points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Ikea Bullock led Louisville with 25 points while Makayla Sam had 16 points and seven rebounds.
The Lady Wildcats lost 64-49 to Tishomingo County in the Class 4A finals.
