Katherine McGee, 90, of Pearl, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, following lung and heart failure.
Katherine was born in Delta City, Miss. on Oct. 24, 1930 to James Clark Seale and Mary Ethyl Sibley Seale. She worked as a waitress for 30 years, including at the King Edward Hotel in Jackson. Being an excellent cook, she invented many recipes that won various cooking contests over the Southern states.
Katherine was a long-time member of Pearson Baptist Church in Pearl and was active in the Pearl Community Center until her debilitation in Nov. 2016.
Katherine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Ray "Maggie" McGee; sisters, Lora Seale Lumbley, Ruby Kight and Claudine White; brother, Lois "Red" Seale.
She is survived by one sister, Vivian Middleton of Vicksburg and daughters, Joan Pierce O'Neal and Glenda Pierce Talley (Larry), both of Brandon. She is also survived by two step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 9:30-10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. The funeral service followed at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial took place in Hickory, Miss. in the Hickory Cemetery.
