National Signing Day in Newton County was one of the most exciting days that I can remember.
Last week, we had 10 players ink scholarships during ceremonies. Six came from Newton County, three more from Union and one from Sebastopol.

That doesn’t include several Newton football players, who are waiting to sign with their teammates on Feb. 17.
Signing day is the day that is most special to me. First of all, this represents the culmination of lifelong hard work. Many of them have been playing sports almost as soon as they were born.
They might have played T-ball at 3 years old or pee-wee football by age 6. Many other kids were playing with them at that time, but few stuck with it until their senior year.
One thing I will note is that RK Cain didn’t play football until his junior year and eventually signed a scholarship. However, he played baseball for a long time before he decided to give football a try.
Second of all, it is a great for the parents. They’ve invested so much in their children over the years. And it’s great to see that investment pay off.
It’s also great to see the example these players set for others in the school and in the program. If you stay dedicated to something like football, another sport or anything you do, you will be successful.
Congratulations to the signees. Best wishes in the future.
