The Union Yellowjackets won two out of three games last week on the hardwoods.
Union opened up the week with a 56-46 win over Enterprise and then fell 42-32 to Southeast Lauderdale. Union then finished up week with a hard-fought 49-45 over Newton County.
Union will play in the Lamar School Christmas Tournament where they will take on Presbyterian Christian on Monday at 11:45 p.m. The winner of that contest will play the winner of Lamar School and Sylva Bay on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. The championship game is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.
Union boys 56, Enterprise 46
The Yellowjackets broke open a close game in the third period as they took a hard-fought 10-point win over the Bulldogs.
The first half was tight as Union led 12-11 at the end of the first period and 21-18 at the half. The Yellowjackets then outscored the Bulldogs 23-16 in the third period to take a 44-34 lead into the fourth as both teams scored 12 points apiece.
Kenyon Clay had his best game of the season as he scored a game-high 18 points. E.J. Campbell and Jamarcus Jones each had 10 points apiece and Jada Russell chipped in seven points.
SE Lauderdale boys 42, Union 32
The Tigers pulled away in the second period and held on to take a 10-point win over the Yellowjackets.
Southeast led 5-4 at the end of the first and then outscored Union 13-5 in the second to lead 18-9 at the half. Southeast outscored Union 12-11 in the third and each team scored 12 in the fourth.
E.J. Campbell led Union with 12 points while Jamarcus Jones added 10 points.
Union boys 49, County 45
The Yellowjackets built a big first-half lead and held on to take a four-point win over the Cougars on Friday night.
Union led 11-9 at the end of the first period and then outscored the Cougars 16-5 in the second to take a 27-14 lead into the half. The Cougars battled back in the second half as they outscored the Yellowjackets 14-9 in the third and 17-13 in the fourth for the final.
Jamarcus Jones led Union with 21 points while Dylan Harrison had 11 points and Jada Russell added 10 points.
Jamal Croft led Newton County with 20 points while Sebastian Johnson had 11 points and Jared Thames added six points.
