After a rough start to the season, the Newton Lady Tigers are playing their best basketball heading to the playoffs.
The Lady Tigers won both games last week in the district 5-2A tournament, beating Pelahatchie 61-23 in the semifinals and then beat Lake 41-34 in the finals to claim another district championship.

Newton Basketball: Lady Tigers Top District Foes Scott Central, Puckett

The Newton Lady Tigers picked up two big district wins last week.
After falling 41-29 to Newton County on Monday, the Lady Tigers bounced back and beat Scott Central 37-34 on Tuesday and Puckett 74-40 on Friday.
The Tigers dropped both of their district games, falling 60-49 to Puckett and 52-50 to Scott Central.

The Newton County High School Blue Stars competed at the MHSAA State Dance Competition
in Jackson, Mississippi on December 12th. The Blue Stars won State Runner-up in 1A-4A Hip Hop and also competed in the 1A-5A Pom Division.
