The Newton County Academy baseball team lost two of three games last week, including a pair to district rival Sylva Bay.
The Generals fell 9-5 on Tuesday and 12-1 on Thursday. The Generals finished out the week with a 21-1 win over Grace Christian.
The NCA tennis team won its only match in a 6-3 win over Union.

The Generals got in three games last week and lost two big district games to rival Sylva Bay.
On Tuesday, the Generals lost 9-5 on Tuesday. Sylva Bay scored two in the first, three in the third and sixth innings while NCA scored single runs in the first, second, fourth, fifth and seventh. NCA outhit Sylva Bay 12-6 but committed seven errors and walked five. Ty Thrash was 3-for-4 while Caines Boyd and Max Ferguson each had two hits. Stephen Boyd started on the mound and pitched all six innings, giving up just two earned runs on six hits and five walks while striking out seven.
On Thursday, the Saints scored five in the first and finished with four in the sixth to take a 12-1 win. Sylva Bay outhit NCA 14-5 as Cooper Thrash and Max Ferguson were each 2-for-3 while Cooper Savell singled and scored the Generals only run.
On Saturday, NCA got a much-needed win with a 21-1 win over Grace Christian. NCA scored four in the second, five in the third and 12 in the fourth. NCA had 16 hits as Max Ferguson was 3-for-3 with three runs scored while Ty Thrash was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and four RBIs. Cooper Savell was 2-for-3 with four runs scored and five RBIs. Stephen Duke was 2-for-3 while Gaines Boyd was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Cooper Thrash started and pitched the first two innings to get the win while Taylor Burt pitched the next two innings and gave up one unearned run while striking out five.

In boys singles, Noah Agent lost 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot while Garrett Estes won 3-6, 7-5, 10-6 at the No. 2 spot. In girls singles, Celi Weems lost 7-6, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot while Morgan Herrington lost 6-2, 6-1.
In boys doubles, Eli Herrington and Taylor Burt won 4-6, 7-6, 10-7 at the No. 1 spot while Andrew Boothe and Cash Weems won 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot.
In girls doubles, Landry Parks and Maddy Smith won 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 1 spots while Jamie Stamper and Piper Collins won 6-4, 1-6, 10-7 in a third-set tiebreaker.
