The Newton county Academy Generals started district play last week with a doubleheader sweep to Discovery Christian.
NCA beat Discovery 18-3 and 18-0 on Thursday before falling 13-0 to Leake Academy on Friday.
The NCA tennis team took a 6-3 win over Simpson County Academy last week as well.

The Generals won two out of three games last week, including a doubleheader sweep of Discovery Christian in district play.
In the first game on Thursday, NCA won 22-5 after scoring 14 runs in the first inning and finishing with three in the third and five in the fourth. NCA had 18 hits in the contest, led by Cooper Savell who was 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Max Ferguson was also 3-for-3 with three runs scored while Stephen Duke and Bryce Jones were each 2-for-2. Parker Rutledge was also 2-for-3. Savell started on the mound and pitched two innings and gave up just one hit while Ferguson pitched the next two innings and gave up five runs on two hits and two walks.
In the second game, NCA no-hit Discovery in a 20-0 three-inning, run-rule win. NCA scored nine in the first and 11 in the second. NCA had just seven hits but drew eight walks and took advantage of five errors and five hit batters. Stephen Duke was 2-for-4 with a double while Logan Usry doubled and drove in two runs. Cxx Robinson drove I three runs while Gaines Boyd and Max Ferguson each had two RBIs. Ty Thrash started and picked up the win, pitching two innings and striking out five. Parker Jones pitched the last inning and struck out three.
On Friday, the Generals lost 13-0 to Class 5A Leake Academy. NCA had just one hit, a single by Stephen Duke, who also started on the mound and went 4 1/3 innings. Ty Thrash and Parker Jones also pitched for the Generals.
The Generals have two games scheduled this week. They will play Sacred Heart on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Enterprise and Lamar School on Friday at Enterprise.

NCA lost both girls singles spots and mixed doubles fell 6-1, 6-4. But NCA took both girls doubles in third-set tiebreakers
In boys singles, Eli Herrington won 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot while Garrett Estes won 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot. In boys doubles, Noah Agent and Taylor Burt won 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot while Andrew Boothe and Cash Weems won 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot.
