The Newton County Givers Fund handed out a grand total of $38,800 on Wednesday, June 18, to representatives of 37 schools, agencies, and organizations throughout the county. The funds handed out by the not-for-profit organization were made possible by donations from many businesses and individuals that share the vested interest in the communities and welfare of the county.
Schools, agencies and organizations that received donations last week include Newton County Academy, Newton County Band Department, Newton County Athletic Department, Newton Municipal Band, Newton Municipal Athletics, Union School Band, Union School Athletic Department, Newton City School Scholarship, Afternoon Adventures, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Newton Public Library, Decatur Public Library, Union Public Library, Beulah Hubbard Volunteer Fire Department, Chunky Volunteer Fire Department, Conehatta Volunteer Fire Department, Decatur Volunteer Fire Department, Duffee Volunteer Fire Department, Gibbstown Volunteer Fire Department, Hickory Volunteer Fire Department, Newton Fire Department, Union Fire Department, Newton Theatre Company, Newton Historical Cultural Commission, Newton Beautification Project, Newton Arts Council, Newton Chamber of Commerce, Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce, Union Chamber of Commerce, Newton County Youth Organization, Friends of MS Veterans, Newton Parks and Recreation Department, Footprints Adult Day Services, Boy Scouts Local Troops, Girl Scouts of America, Newton County 4-H, and the Salvation Army.
