Newton Police Department is looking for a Newton man after an argument turned into a shoot-out at the Newton Chevron station Thursday, Sept. 12.
Police Chief Harvey Curry said officers have identified Newton resident Santonio Griffin as a suspect in the shooting.
Curry said the incident occurred when a group of people from Neshoba County got into an argument with a group from Newton County at the gas station late Friday night.
“They got into a fight down there,” he said. “Some guys from Neshoba County and some guys from Newton County. Next thing you know they start shooting.”
Curry said Neshoba County resident Jalen Griffin was injured in the exchange and taken to the hospital.
“He’s since been released from the hospital and is recovering,” he said.
