Newton Chamber of Commerce and the Roxy Theater invite everyone to attend their End-of-Summer Concert Friday at the Roxy Theater.
Newton Chamber director Emily Pugh said the concert is shaping up to be a lot of fun, with five different bands set to perform from 5-7:30 p.m.
“People are really excited about it,” she said.
Scheduled to appear are The Overdrafts, Tinka Tonka Daycare, Amanda Blackburn and Audrey Pugh, LA Dance and East Central Community College’s Pep Band, Centralettes and Drumline.
Additionally, Pugh said the Chamber of Commerce has invited community organizations to come out and let residents know about services that are available to them. Vendors who have signed up include the United Givers Fund, which provides funding to multiple civic and community service groups, and the Newton County Tobacco Free Coalition, among others.
“We’ll be telling everyone about services offered in the community,” Pugh said.
Throughout the concert, The Newton Theatre Company will be operating a concession stand, offering chips, candy and drinks for concert goers to munch on. However, Pugh said she also hopes residents will take advantage of Newton’s restaurants and businesses, using the event as an opportunity to dine out and do a little shopping before sitting back and enjoying the musical acts.
The End-of-Summer Concert, which will run 5-7:30 p.m., is a free event to celebrate the end of summer, and all the Chamber and Roxy ask is that people come out and have fun.
