Newton residents have a new doctor in town to take care of all their dental and teeth cleaning needs. Nathan Harrison, whose father owns Newton Family Dental in Newton, graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry earlier this year and is excited to be joining his father’s practice.
“I kinda grew up around dentistry,” Harrison said. “It’s what I’ve always wanted to do.”
Harrison said he plans to work side-by-side with his father, drawing on his dad’s experience to further his education while meeting the dental needs of rural Mississippians.
“Working in a rural town is what Mississippi needs,” he said.
Harrison said he wants the community to know he’s there for any dental issue residents might have from cleanings to caps and everything in between. He said he firmly believes all Mississippians deserve quality dental care and pledged to do his part to meet that need in the community.
“We’re here to help the community and take care of resident’s needs,” he said. “I’d like for anyone, regardless of their dental problem or ability to pay, to feel comfortable coming in.”
And, he added, with school starting back in a few weeks, this is the perfect time for a back-to-school cleaning and checkup.
Eventually, Harrison said, the plan is to have him take over the practice after his father retires, though that’s still years away.
“Dad plans on being around for a while,” he said.
However, Harrison said, no matter which Harrison is running the business, residents can be sure “everyone is welcome at Newton Family Dental.”
