Newton Municipal School District is inviting residents and students over the age of 18 to get involved in the Nov. 5 general election by registering to vote Monday at the school’s Voter Registration Drive.
District librarian Tiwari McLain said the registration event will be held in two parts, allowing eligible students to sign up during their third block classes while residents will be able to sign up in the evening.
“It’ll be Sept. 30 during our third block period, which is from 11:04 a.m. to 12:57 p.m.” she said. “That’s when the students 18 or older will register.”
After the school day, McLain said, residents needing to register will have the opportunity to sign up from 4:30-7 p.m. at the high school.
The event will be held at the Newton High School Library, and is open to any student 18-years-old or who will turn 18 by the Nov. 5 general election.
All residents 18-years-old or older are invited to come register to vote as well.
All students and residents will need to present a valid photo ID and their social security number to register.
