Funeral services for Mrs. Bobbie Nell Hall Griffin were held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, August 25, 2023 from the Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Beasley officiating. Interment followed in the Midway Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Newton County Funeral Home.
Mrs. Griffin, age 93, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023 at her residence. She was a longtime resident of Newton County and a retired employee of La-Z-Boy South. She was a faithful member of Midway Baptist Church. Favorite past times were cooking and watching hummingbirds. She loved her family very much and will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Griffin; her son, Danny Griffin; her daughter, Barbara Ann McDowell; her parents, Willie Neal and Effie Bailey Hall; five brothers, Jack Hall, Shellie Hall, Clell Hall, Joe Hall and Don Hall.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Robby McDowell (Tammy) of Newton, Charity Castle (Kenny) of Newton, Toby McDowell (Cassie) of Newton, Jason Griffin of Newton, Austin Griffin (Amanda) of Laurel and Casey Griffin of Newton; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her son-in-law, Jimmy McDowell of Newton; her daughter-in-law, Sherry Griffin of Newton; one sister, Jean Long of Clinton and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Justin McDowell, Peyton Castle, Parker Castle, Joel McDowell, Jason Griffin, and Austin Griffin.
Honorary pallbearers were Casey Griffin, Robby McDowell, and Toby McDowell.
The family received guests from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Newton County Funeral Home - South on Thursday, August 24, 2023.
The body was laid in state one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.
