Funeral Services for Ms. Detroit S. Jones were held Saturday, July 12, 2025, 11:00 A.M.
Ms. Detroit Sims Jones was a loving mother, sister, cousin and grandmother. She was born on December 17, 1926, in Jasper County to the late Charlie Sims, Jr. and Arlena Sims. She departed this life on June 26, 2025.
She dedicated her entire life to taking care of her children and grandchildren. She was a homemaker and a nurturer. She stayed committed to her faith and to her family. She was a fantastic cook, great communicator, and she was a great advice giver. She encouraged and she told the truth, whether you wanted to hear it or not. She will be forever loved and cherished by all of her family and those who knew her.
She leaves to cherish four loving children, Arlena J. Dyess (Charles), William Henry Jones, Sr. (Bonnie), Addie Lawson and Olen Jones; grandchildren, Charlene M. Dyess, Charles D. Dyess, Debra Ann Scott (Jesse), William Jones Jr., Felita Lawson, Lance Whitehead, India Jones and Qlen Jones; nineteen grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, a host of cousins and other family members. She leaves a legacy of strength, wisdom and good cooks. She will forever be loved and cherished.
