Funeral Services for Ms. Willie Mae Lundy were held at 12 pm, Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Milling Funeral Home Chapel in Union with burial in the Linwood Cemetery. Pastor Jennifer Biard officiated.
Visitation was held Wednesday from 10:00 am - 12 pm at Milling Funeral Home in Union.
Willie Mae Langdon Lundy was born on June 23, 1925, to the late Myrtle and Bert Langdon.
She was the third of nine children and was raised in Union, Mississippi, where she received her education at County Line School.
She was united in marriage to the late R.L. Lundy, and together they were blessed with three children: Dorothy Mae, Robert Larry and the late Paula Jean Lundy Grant.
At a young age, Willie Mae developed a strong work ethic. She began working at Midland Shirt Factory at just 16 years old and remained there until the factory closed in 1994. In 1997, she joined the team at Walmart, where she continued to work until retiring at the remarkable age of 94.
Willie Mae’s faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her in all that she did. She was a devoted member of Jesus Name Church in Union, Mississippi, and later fellowshipped with Pine Grove United Pentecostal Church until her health declined.
On Sunday, March 2, 2025, Willie Mae departed this life at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, after a prolonged illness. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith and devotion to God, deep love for her family, and a life dedicated to service. She will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle and Bert Langdon; her daughter, Paula Jean Grant; her brothers, Ander J.C. Langdon, W.B. Langdon, and Charlie Robert Langdon; and her sisters, Addie Lee Henson, Maggie Jay Heblon, and Amy Lou Goforth.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Dorothy Biard of Jackson, MS; her son, Robert Larry Lundy (Donna) of Mendenhall, MS; nine grandchildren, Dorothy Elizabeth Beard, Joseph Kenneth Long, Robert Lundy, Alisa Lynn Lundy, Tammy Elizabeth Grant, Bill Grant, Lea Ann Deavours, Jennifer Renae Biard and Christopher Joseph Grant; fourteen great-grandchildren; eighteen great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine Elliott McKeithen and Shirlene Cliburn; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Willie Mae’s life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and love—a legacy that will continue to live on through those she touched.
Active Pallbearers were Nicholas Bailey, Jonathan Beard, Luke Beard, Stewart Glen Beard, Jr., (Trace) Stewart Glen Beard, III, Garrett Lundy and Jake Lundy.
Honorary Pallbearers were Joseph (Christopher) Grant, Joseph (Kenny) Long, Robert Larry Lundy, Jr., Mickey McKeithen, Timmy McKeithen, Danny McKeithen, Tommy Cliburn, Malcolm Cliburn and Eddie Cliburn.
Milling Funeral Home of Union was in charge of the arrangements.
