It seems like there has been a lot to celebrate over the last few weeks.
Last week, the Decatur Chamber of Commerce honored Wayne Comas as its Citizen of the Year.
He has been a great member of the community and a great leader. And the award took Comans by surprise.
“I was wondering when I got here tonight why all of my family was here,” Comans said. “This is truly amazing. I couldn’t be anything without first God and then my family.
“I love my town. I always have. It’s made us a good living. I just hope that we can always be able give back a part. And we thank God for everything.”
Stan Buckley put the announcement of Comans winning the Citizen of the Year into great perspective,
“I was here to tonight to make an announcement, and really, it’s a ‘but God’ announcement. I’m here to announce the citizen of the year, and it’s a ‘But God’ because who’d ever thunk it,” Buckley said.
Wayne, we appreciate everything you have done to support Decatur and Newton County. You deserve the award.
