Over the last two months, winter hasn’t made much of an impact on our weather here in East Central Mississippi.
When I played Santa for the Whistlestop Marketplace, it was a very humid 75 degrees after there being snow on the ground the previous year. I haven’t really needed to wear too many sweaters this season so far.
Last year, I got more use out of my sweaters this year than I have the previous two years combined. However, it hasn’t been that bad yet.
It hasn’t been a rough winter so far, but we’re just under halfway through it. This year, it’s coming in with a vengeance over the next couple of weeks.
Earlier this week, the European model, usually the most reliable model, painted a very snowy weekend ahead. By the end of the day, the forecast completely change, and nothing is expect this weekend. That could change, but probably not at this time.
As that cold rolls in, I hope you will remember to bundle up. Exposed skin of any kind could make you susceptible to frostbite.
Also, keep your water dripping for the next couple of nights when the temperature drops into 20s and teens. I don’t want you to have to experience a water pipe burst. I had that experience last year and I don’t want to live through it again.
Please keep warm and stay safe over this frigid week. Keep a check on your family, friends and loved ones. And especially keep a watch on your pets. If you can, let them come in.
We need the cold, but sure enough, if the weather doesn’t suit you, just wait a while and it will change.
