The December session of Newton County Circuit Court wrapped up last month with verdicts in the following cases:
Heather Rosanna Walker pleaded not guilty to possession of methamphetamine, possession of hydrocodone and acetaminophen, possession of marijuana and possession of alprazolam. Walker was granted her request to join a pre-trial intervention program for two years, which she must successfully complete to avoid standing trial.
Roderick Gerrell Rankin pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling. Rankin’s plea deal included 7 years in prison with 7 years suspended and a $2,500 fine.
Johnny Dukes pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling. Dukes plead guilty in exchange for 6 years in prison, 5 years probation, a $5,000 fine and $400 restitution.
Territon Billups pleaded guilty to one count of kidnapping and one count of aggravated domestic violence. He will serve 10 years in jail, 5 years for each count.
Jarrod Stuart pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, three counts of possessing forged, altered or counterfeit instruments and one count of uttering forgery. Under the plea deal, Stuart was sentenced to 15 years in prison with 5 years suspended. His codefendant, Naomi Massey is scheduled to be brought to trial April 15.
Christopher Rashad Johnson was indicted by the Grand Jury on charges of felony fleeing. His case was continued until April 15.
Nathan Dale Cross and Leah Nichole McMillan were indicted by the Grand Jury on charges of burglary of a dwelling. Their case was continued until April 8
Antonio Davon McClendon was indicted by the Grand Jury on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His case was continued until April 8. According to court dockets, McClendon will be treated as a habitual offender. If found guilty, he will face the maximum sentence.
Green Jerome Bailey was indicted by the Grand Jury on one count of possession of methamphetamine and one count possession of marijuana. His case was continued until April. An exact trial date has not been set. Bailey is being treated as a habitual offender. If found guilty, he will face the maximum sentence.
Kia Latrice Lee pleaded guilty to two counts aggravated assault. Under her plea deal, Lee was sentence to 5 years in prison, 5 years probation and a $5,000 fine.
Joseph Buckley III pleaded not guilty to one count possession of cocaine with a firearm enhancement, one count possession of hydrocodone and acetaminophen with a firearm enhancement and one count possession of marijuana. His case was continued until April 9.
Elmer Thomas Jr. pleaded guilty to one count possession of methamphetamine with intent and one count possession of amphetamine. Under the plea deal, Thomas will have to complete 5 years of drug court and pay a $5,000 fine. If he is unsuccessful, he will face 28 years in prison.
Brittany Morrow pleaded guilty to malicious mischief, which stemmed from her scratching the paint on a Pontiac G6 GT owned by Jeremy Hannah. Under the plea agreement, Morrow will be given a 5-year suspended sentence, pay a $2,500 fine and pay $4,500 in restitution.
Bradley Wayne Holloway was indicted by the Grand Jury for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His case was continued until April 15.
Christian Michael Shelton was indicted by the Grand Jury for one count possession of methamphetamine with a firearm enhancement and one count possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His case was continued until April 15.
Rodney Cortez Gill pleaded guilty to sale of methamphetamine. Under his plea agreement, Gill must successfully complete a Drug Court program and pay a $5,000 fine
Ladarrus Deshon Watts was incited on one count possession of methamphetamine and one count possession of hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Watts, who was out on a $10,000 bond, did not appear for court. His bond had been revoked and a bench warrant has been issued for his arrest.
William A. Jones was indicted by the Grand Jury for aggravated domestic violence. Court records for Jones could not be located.
James Harvey Nicholson pleaded guilty to failure to re-register as a convicted sex offender and was sentenced as a habitual offender. Under his plea agreement, Nicholson will serve 1 year in jail, 4 years in prison and pay a $2,500 fine.
Morgan Denver Brackeen pleaded guilty in three separate cases to one count of possession of methamphetamine with a firearm enhancement, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two counts of sale of methamphetamine. Brackeen was sentenced as habitual offender. Under the plea agreement, Brackeen would enter drug court and pay a $5,000 fine for each of the three cases. However, court documents show Neshoba County Circuit Court rejected Brackeen’s plea deal for sale of methamphetamine and sentenced him to 12 years in prison.
