Hickory residents will not be able to wait out the coronavirus at town facilities after the Town of Hickory aldermen voted to close down town buildings in response to the Covid-19 outbreak.
The resolution passed Monday states the Hickory Gym, Baseball field and Town Hall lobby will remained closed to the public until further notice.
"IT IS FUTHER RESOLVED, that all Town building including but not limited to the Hickory Gym and base ball field town hall, are hereby closed to the public until further notice," the resolution states.
Additionally, the resolution gives the mayor and Board of Aldermen authority to place nonessential employees on paid administrative leave in the event they need to be quarantined or care for a sick family member.
