The Newton County chapter of the Mississippi State Alumni Association is looking to send recent graduates and transfer students off in style with a Send-Off Party August 4 at the Decatur Country Club.
Chapter President Joshua Yeager said graduates of Newton County’s schools are top-notch students and are exactly the type of students Mississippi State University wants on its campus. This year, he said, over 50 local students will head to Starkville to attend State.
“We have 52 graduates in Newton County this year attending Mississippi State University,” he said.
Before the student leave, however, Yeager said the Alumni Association wanted to do something special to congratulate them on going to college. A Send-Off Party, he said, is a great way to do that.
All MSU students, parents and alumni are invited to participate in the event, which will take place 2:30 – 4 p.m. The party will feature ice cream, refreshments and goodies for students to enjoy before heading to campus for the Fall Semester.
“It’s like a birthday party is what it is,” Yeager said.
In addition, members of the Newton County chapter and Alumni Association staff will be on hand to answer questions, advice and give students a leg up on navigating their first few weeks in college.
There is no cost to attend the Send-Off Party, Yeager said, and all MSU Bulldogs, past, present and future, are welcome to attend.
