There’s a difference between asking someone to do something and telling them. I can ask Brad to do the dishes, and I can harshly tell the cat to get off the curtains.
However, I think asking is the best policy when it comes to your parents. I mean, imagine what would happen if you told your mama to wash your jacket instead of asking. Or, how about telling your daddy to fix your car instead of asking him to.
I don’t know about anyone else’s parents, but mine would remind me real quick on who’s the boss! We wouldn’t dare command our parents to do something, but what about our Heavenly Father? How many times do we tell God to do something to benefit us. It might not be one of those demanding commands, but don’t you see a difference in how we talk to everyone else, including a parent?
When it comes to communication with God, instead of constantly telling Him to please do this or to please do that, He wants us to have a normal conversation with Him.
He would like for us to actually talk to Him instead of hearing how we want this or that. Remember having coffee with Jesus? That’s when we chat with Him over a cup of coffee like we would a friend, and that’s what He would love for us to do. And like any other parent, He would love to hear from us more than when we just need something.
My encouragement for us is to remember that our God is real, and instead of just commands or complaints, He wants a real conversation with us.
I hope everyone has a very blessed week! And remember to keep me updated with community news and prayer requests by emailing me at bradley.katie93@gmail.com.
