I would like to thank all the medical fields, consisting of doctors, nurses, first responders, fire departments, law enforcement officers and everyone who have played a part in protecting everyone in this covid-19 virus. I pray that God will intervene and stop the spread of this virus.
Our deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Sherry Burks Johnson, 52, of Marion and former Hickory resident. Hickory was saddened to hear the passing of Sherry, who went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at Anderson’s Regional Medical Center in Meridian.

Recipe for the Week:
Butter Pecan Fudge
Ingredients: ½ cup butter, ½ cup sugar, ½ cup packed brown sugar, ½ cup heavy whipping cream, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 cups confectioners’ sugar, 1 cup pecan halves, toasted and coarsely chopped.
Directions: In a large heavy saucepan, combine the butter, sugars, cream and salt. Bring to a boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat; stir in vanilla. Stir in confectioners’ sugar until smooth. Fold in pecans. Spread into a buttered 8-inch square dish. Cool to room temperature. Cut into 1-inch squares. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Yield: 1-1/4 pounds.
