I am so sorry I missed last week’s column.
Congratulations to Virgil Owen Green and wife Ivanell on 73 years of marriage on Thursday, June 28. The couple celebrated that anniversary June 29, along with the monthly birthday celebrations at J.G. Alexander Nursing Home, where Virgil is a resident. I do not think I have known anyone who shared this many years together. Well done!
Thanks to Tyson Feed Mill Complex and Fernanda (Calvin) Bailey for two great steak meals the last week of June.
On Tuesday, June 26, the awards banquet was held at Union Station Fish House, with plaques for those of us who have reached a milestone of five years or more, in five-year segments. My award was for 10 years, although I have been with the company 11 plus years. After a bit of confusion and delay, I have to say, it was the best steak I have eaten in years, very thick, juicy and tender, and cooked just right. Along with the steak was a great salad and baked potato.
I was too full to sample the peach cobbler, but I was told it was delicious.
On Wednesday, June 27, a Round Table meeting at the Tyson business office near the mill, also included a steak dinner, with baked potatoes, fresh string beans and banana pudding. Timmy Phillips and wife cooked and served this meal.
This couple has the best food on a vendor truck in this part of the state.
You will sometimes find them on Fridays on the parking lot at Quinn’s Drug Store. Thanks for a great meal, folks!
As everyone cooked out for the holiday last week and enjoyed fellowship with friends and family,
I hope you kept in mind that the holiday is not named July 4, but Independence Day.
Stay thankful every day for the God who helped this country to be founded and become independent, and who has blessed and kept it and its citizens safe and blessed since then. Also, be thankful for the many service men and women today and in times past, who have served God and us in keeping it free.
Redeemer Baptist Church in House started a revival on Sunday and it goes until Wednesday, July 11. at 6 p.m. each night. Also the monthly men’s fellowship will be this Saturday evening.
My deepest condolences to the Brazzill family in the loss of their loved one. Gregory and Amy Brazzil are my neighbors and friends. I pray that the Lord will give them and the rest of their family comfort in the loss of his mother last week.
