Shoppers from Newton County and the surrounding area descended on Hickory Pick’N Saturday to take advantage of holiday deals at the second annual Christmas Open House.
Eric Johannsen, owner of Hickory Pick’N, said the flea market had seen a steady stream of shoppers looking to get a head start on Christmas shopping since the doors opened Saturday morning.
Since the inaugural event last year, Johannsen said Hickory Pick’N had added several new vendors and rearranged the available space to accommodate more items for customers. Shoppers Saturday were able to browse wares from over 50 vendors offering sales throughout the store.
“We’re always doing something,” he said.
In addition to vendors, Johannsen said more than 15 door prizes were available from vendors throughout the store. Customers who visited the Christmas Open House were entered into a drawing for the prizes.
Hickory Pick’N’s Christmas Open House is one of two main events the flea market puts on each year. Johannsen said the Open House and the fall Hickory Pick’N Day not only draw people to the store, but also celebrate the community and provide a fun day for residents and shoppers.
For those that missed the Open House, Johannsen said all are encouraged to stop by over the coming weeks to see what vendors have to sell, grab a snack or look for the perfect gift. With items ranging from antiques to clothes, Hickory Pick’N is sure to have something for everyone.
