Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be someone else? At the theater, you can do and be anything! All ages are welcome, and families are encouraged to tag-along on the theater fun.
First, participating in local theater is a great extracurricular for school. If you feel like you aren’t great at sports, but you want to be front and center, the stage might be the perfect place for you. You can also meet people from the surrounding areas and develop friendships.
Secondly, theater can improve your performance skills. You have a coach for singing, acting, and dancing. You can practice new techniques for theater. Because not everyone likes to sing, there are also dramas.
Finally, participating in local theater allows you to explore behind the scenes jobs. You can learn how to work lights, the soundboard, and design sets. Costuming is also an important job to learn because it sets the tone and time period for the play.
There are many opportunities for children, teens, and adults at your local theater. The city of Newton is fortunate to have their very own—The Roxy. All that’s required is your time and determination. We hope to see new faces on the stage.
