BASKETBALL: NCA girls take down Meridian Flyers

The Newton County Academy Lady Generals picked up an easy win last week, pounding the Meridian Lady Flyers.

The Lady Generals started fast and easily handled the Lady Flyers, winning 42-9.

The Generals weren’t as fortunate as they dropped a 54-51 decision to the Flyers in the nightcap.

It’s been a while since Newton County and Newton squared off on the basketball floor.

The two schools put on a show for an overflow crowd at East Central Community College as the Tigers took an action-packed 56-48 win over the Cougars.

BILOXI – Southern Miss didn't have many answers for Ole Miss' offense.

From what seemed like every angle on the court, the unbeaten Rebels knocked down eight first-half three-pointers with ease. It was an opposite outing for the Golden Eagles, whose poor early shooting led to an 89-72 loss at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
