SWIMMING: Olmstead returns to Taiwan team

After being blocked from going to Taiwan for two years due to travel restrictions for Covid, Marina Olmstead was finally allowed to return to Taiwan to compete. Her years in college swimming resulted in her gaining 15 lbs. and no real significant cut in times in her swimming. Some thought that Olmstead had topped out in her sport.

BASKETBALL: Hornets sweep Raleigh, Union, Pisgah

It was a good week for the Lake boys basketball team as they won all three games they plays.

Lake opened the week with a 59-36 win over Raleigh on Tuesday and then got a big 63-37 win over Union on Thursday night. The Hornets finished the week with a 47-36 win over Pisgah.

Soccer: County boys get win, draw

The Newton County boys soccer team got the only win of the week as they opened division play against Choctaw Central.

Newton County boys

The Cougars picked up one win last week and came away with a tie in two games.

The Cougars tied Germantown 0-0 and then opened division play with a 6-2 over Choctaw Central.
