tennis: NCA adds three more wins

The Newton County Academy tennis teams appears to be getting primed for another state championship run.

NCA won three matches last week, beating Sylva Bay and Discovery Christian 9-0 and then took a 6-3, win over Class 5A East Rankin.

The Generals won every position over rival Sylva Bay last week.

Tennis: County advances to South State finals

The Newton County tennis team picked up two playoff wins this past week and are one step away from playing for another state championship.

Newton County opened up with a 6-1 over Pass Christian and then beat Sumrall 7-0.

baseball: Bobcats fall in key district series

It was rough week for the Sebastopol Bobcat baseball team this past week.

In a key division showdown with rival Ethel, the Bobcats dropped both games, losing 12-9 on Tuesday and 13-3 on Friday. They ended the week with a 14-5 loss to Puckett on Saturday.

baseball: Union gets one of two wins in district play, hammers Raleigh

Union split a pair of division games with Southeast Lauderdale, winning 7-4 on Monday before posting 10-0 on Friday. Union finished the week with a 20-10 win over Raleigh on Saturday.
