Newton County’s late-season run ended at the hands of rival West Lauderdale. The Knights took game one 5-4 in nine innings Tuesday. County slugged out a 16-11 win Thursday. After rain forced a rare Sunday game, West Lauderdale claimed a second walk-off win, 9-8, to take the series and advance to the Class 4A championship.
