Newton jumped out to a big first half lead against Walnut and never looked back, as the Lady Tigers downed the Lady Wildcats 51-31 on a muggy Friday night at home.
Newton will await the winner of New Site-Leland, which was postponed due to weather.
McKinley Ware led the way with 15 followed by Nia McCalphia with 14 points and Myja McNichols with 12. Ja’Leah Hickmon added 4.
Newton took a 13-2 lead midway through the first and then extended it to 26-12 by halftime.
The Lady Tigers pushed the game out of reach in the fourth quarter.
